Otto Frederick Rohwedder has introduced the world first mechanical bread slicers at the year of 1928.
Otto Frederick Rohwedder is the first practical American entrepreneur from 1880 to 1960. The milestones of bread slicer begin when in the year of1912 Otto Rohwedder toys with the idea of producing a machine to slice bread. Without any bread slicer guide, he begins to design a machine to slice bread in the year of 1916. His first idea and inspiration is to set up a useful and practical home bread slicer. However he faced some difficulties when at 1917 a fire has destroyed his factory and all of his prototype machine and blueprints.
At the year of 1927, the ambition of Rohwedder has accomplished when he put himself back to the bread slicer development and research. He finally saves enough money to begin again to build bread slicers. At the following year which is on 1928, he files patent application for a single step to build his bread slicing machine. At the same year also he forms a company named Mac-Roh Sales & Manufacturing to build and sell the bread slicer machine as the home bread slicer and bread slicers for home and family.
With the strong mind and dedicated work, he finally put his first mechanical pre-sliced bread goes on sale to the public in Chillicothe, Missouri at the year of 1928. The mission to accomplish for bringing a useful bread slicing machine has become closer. In between the period also, he continuously adds improvements to his bread slicing machine at St. Louis, Missouri baker, Gustav Papendick in the year of 1929.
At the year of 1930 Wonder Bread begins to sell bread slicers, most bakeries follow suit later on. The heat of bread slicers like home bread slicer and bread slicing machine occurred in the year os 1933 when American bakeries were turning out more sliced than unsliced bread. At that time, Rohwedder take the advantages of sells patent rights to and goes to work for Micro-Westco, Inc. There’s mass production of bread slicers and the machine become the important household unit for many families as well as commercial bread slicer in many bread industry.
